A laid-back music theory course for anyone working in the studio environment.

We will cover:

• The “elements” of music – rhythm, harmony and melody,

• Time signatures, note values, etc.,

• Drums and percussion in music productions; how rhythm can be used on ANY instruments to make parts more interesting,

• The 12 notes of the modern chromatic scale, and how they are used to create major, minor and modal scales. How these are used in modern music,

• What is the “key”? How key signatures define the major and minor keys,

• Making triads in your chosen key, and how to extend these to make more interesting harmonies,

• Chord sequences and key modulation,

• Dynamics.
