Danny Fox

Bass and Guitar

A professional musician of over 20 years, Danny played his first paid gigs on the Sheffield blues and jazz scenes aged just 16. Although predominantly self taught, he studied briefly with Strongheart bassist Bill Evans, who in turn studied with bass legend John Patitucci. Building on his studies with Evans, Danny developed his own voice as a bassist and composer, working with many local and international artists, and writing solo bass guitar music. Since 2002, Danny has taught bass and guitar, and has had a 100% pass rate of all his exam taking students.

A firm believer that every person's journey learning music is personal, he tailors all his lessons to the students needs and ambitions. Danny is as happy teaching classical music as he is soul, funk or metal, as all provide different skills and challenges for players. Since 2010 he has taught bass guitar for The University of Sheffield, specialising in jazz improvisation. Since the pandemic he has been working on a new live jazz fusion project with UK drum legend Bobby Arechiga.

Danny has been a technical contributor for the online bass sites, No Treble, Bass Players United and Bass Musician Magazine, where he worked alongside some of the biggest names in the industry.
